Ranavalona III
Ranavalona III (nata die 22 Novembris 1861, mortua die 23 Maii 1917) fuit ultima regina Madagascariae. A die 30 Iulii 1883 ad diem 28 Februarii 1897 regnavit, quo tempore continue sed tandem frustra colonicis Franciae consiliis resistere conata est. Ranavalona puella ex pluribus patriciis (Andriana) electa est ut Ranavalonae II reginae succederet. Sicut ambae reginae priores, Ranavalona rationibus politicis in matrimonium cum Rainilaiarivony, plebeio (Hova) nobili, qui primus minister factus regni res cotidianas et externas curavit. Ranavalona colonizationem Francicam arcere tentabat commercio cum Civitatibus Foederatis et Britannia confirmando. Franci autem portus et Tananarivum urbem capitalem aggressi, denique anno 1895 palatium regium ceperunt, quod principatum libertatemque huius regni finivit.

Novum regimen colonicum Francicum cito Rainilaiarivony Algeriam pepulit, et Ranavalonam et aulam eius primum solo nomine regnantem manere sivit, sed rebellione menalamba erupta, clandestinis consiliis adversus Francos inventis in lucem prolatis, reginam quoque in insulam Reunionem anno 1897 expulsit. Rainilaiarivony eodem anno mortuo, Ranavalona cum parte familiae mox in villam Algeriensem mota est. Regina, familia, servique comitantes salarium accipiebant et commode vivebant, aliquando itinera Lutetiam facientes, sed numquam in Madagascariam redire siti sunt. Ranavalona anno 1917, annum quinque et quingenta agens, in villa Algeriensi, embolismo mortua est. Reliquiae eius Algeriae sepultae sunt sed post unum et viginti annos effosae sunt et portatae in Madagascariam, ubi in sepulcro Rasoherinae reginae in hortis Rovae, palatii urbis Tananarivi, collocatae sunt.
