Lampanyctus nobilis est species piscium maritimorum familiae Myctophidarum ordinis Myctophiformium. Pantropicus est,[1] et insigniter in Oceano Atlantico occidentali a parallelo 23°N ad Brasiliam invenitur.[2] Binomen ab Åge Vedel Tåning anno 1928 institutum est.
