Hydrobatinae sunt una e duabus avium maritimarum subfamiliis familiae Hydrobatidarum. Earum distributio geographica plerumque in hemisphaerio septentrionali est. Hydrobatinis sunt duo (aliquando tria) genera, quibus vicissim sunt duodeviginti species. Hydrobatinae sunt primus grex hydrobatidarum qui a stirpe maiorum deflexerunt, qua pro causa nonnulli eruditi dicunt eas familiam ab Oceanitinis separatam haberi debere.[1]
