Summarium

Descriptio

17 frame mosaic of Ganymede taken during Voyager 2's flyby of the moon on July 9, 1979. This image is centered on Marius Regio and the numerous fracture systems that have cut through the moon's crust runing through the region.

During the flyby, Voyager 2 was not able to capture the moon in a single mosaic due to the angular size of Ganymede and the spacecraft's motion. Instead, it took multiple mosaics, each covering a different part of the surface, with a bit of overlap between each.
