Modus computandi recensere

Usually I edit by largish chunks. If I edit letter by letter, would that improve my position in the long run (given that I'm the only one who's invented such a great idea)? Not that I'm interested in this ilk of competition. Just curious in theory (though I believe I know the answer beforehand). --Neander 02:01, 14 Iunii 2010 (UTC)Reply

I edit similarly. Let's not think of it as a competition! As you point out (and if I might develop your thought a little), a more meaningful statistic might be the "number of contributed characters surviving in the current Vicipaedia." After all, somebody whose texts often get deleted or grossly attenuated by editing wouldn't want to have the same standing as somebody who contributes exactly as much but whose offerings undergo less editorial diminution. Is this bot counting edits accurately? It shows Nuada to have made 498 edits since the 21st, but Nuada hasn't made any edits here since the 16th. Or is this bot counting edits in other wikis and posting them here, as if they apply only to Vicipaedia? Perhaps it should clarify what it's counting. IacobusAmor 03:08, 31 Octobris 2011 (UTC)Reply

The only way the numbers for (at least) the first three wikipedians can be accurate is that they count edits made in other wikis, but that information is unwanted here and belongs elsewhere: what's wanted here—and, in the absence of an advertisement offered by the bot, what's expected here—is the number of edits made in Vicipaedia. Will the bot address this problem. IacobusAmor 16:36, 31 Octobris 2011 (UTC)Reply
Is the bot's arithmetic accurate? In the most recent time period, I counted about 216 edits under my name, but the bot finds only 187. IacobusAmor (disputatio) 14:15, 2 Maii 2012 (UTC)Reply
