- Since no one has explained this name "Taba" I suggest moving the page. The only source seems to be a personal page currently unavailable. But if anybody can give a good source for the name (or even an explanation of it) please do! Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 14:09, 23 Ianuarii 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks, Alex. Yes, that is the same one I found long ago and added to the page: curiously, when I tried to go to it earlier today, the website said it wasn't available. OK. But I am still unhappy. Where do they get this name? Who says it's Latin? What kind of Latin can it be? - The online version of William Camden's Britannia gives the indeclinable Treignemouth (the 'r' was probably a typo, as he called the river Teigne). In the Taba instance, it was used in latin (it is from the section in the book called "A list of the latin names of places in G.B. and Ireland" [2]) but that does not indicate sources for each one. So following the title, saying they were in "English historical manuscripts and records", it was probably a monk or an official who wrote it, or so I imagine (you're the historian!) But it shudders to make me think that the writers of this stuff also coined such greats as "magnalis", "amuntia" and "wallum" [3]. Harrissimo 21:33, 23 Ianuarii 2008 (UTC).
