Suffragium vs. suffragatio

In Latin terms, why does suffragatio mean voting generally, while suffragium means the *right* to vote, specifically? Why not, say, the reverse? I suspect there is a rationale for this, but I do not know what is. Toddcs (disputatio) 17:30, 13 Novembris 2023 (UTC)Reply
