Aleonora Aquitana versus Aleonora Aquitanae

I know that in English, as in the play and in the movie, the Queen of England is "Eleanor of Aquitaine", which should translate as Aleonora Aquitanae. I had translated the name like that myself. But then I recalled the fact that in the Middle Ages and early Modern times, the preferred form for references to the place of birth/origin of the wife of a King in her title keeps the adjective, hence Aleonora Aquitana. Likewise, Katherine of Aragon was "Catharina Aragonensis" and not Cathararina Aragoniae, although I understand there may be exceptions. Qv. [1]
