Wouldn't "mortivorus" be better word for death eater (like carnivorus, herbivorus)? -anonymous

Vorare isn't just 'eat': it's 'eat greedily, gobble up', as seen in the corresponding adjective, vorax 'gluttonous, swallowing greedily'. Carnivorus goes back at least to Pliny the Elder, but Merriam-Webster says herbivorus is New Latin, and its English form apparently dates from 1661. Classical Latin is less hospitable than English to such compounds. Is there an objection to qui mortem absumit/(com)edit/consumit/(de)vorat/manducat etc.? IacobusAmor 19:08, 6 Augusti 2006 (UTC)

Ah, now I see: in the article, it's Edaces Mortis 'the devourers of death' (with the adjective edax devouring' used as a noun). That's neat. The idea wants to be a proper name.
