Disputatio:Gulielmus Sihlerus
There are about a zillion ways to spell the name "William" (and its variants) in Latin, which you can read about at Gulielmus. I am hoping once we get enough names listed there it will be apparent which spelling were preferred by which nations in which eras. Do you have any actual attestations of Mr. Sihler being called "Golielmus" in Latin? I ask because that spelling does not seem to be at all common (Google returns 1 hit for the nominative, 1 for the accusative.) If you are just making up this Latin version of his name yourself, you should probably use one of the more common spellings. --Iustinus 23:26 feb 3, 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, I have been working too fast. I confused it with the Greek "Golielmos."--Brennus 23:50 feb 3, 2005 (UTC)
- Ahah! So that's where you got it from. Well, although there were only two hits for that form of the name, at least one of them was significant, so thanks for bringing it to my attention ;) --Iustinus 00:10 feb 4, 2005 (UTC)
