the page has interwiki to it: Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del fuoco but also to en:firefighter, and es:bombero, not the same thing. Latin for firefighter is siphonarius not Ministerium incendiale.--Rafaelgarcia 20:49, 4 Maii 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ministerium incendiale?? 'The burning service'?? 'The fire-setting ministry'?? Really!!! ¶ In Cassell's, incendialis, -e seems not to be a word. ¶ The Classical word for 'firefighters, fire brigade' was merely vigiles (same as for 'police force'). Or for added clarity, vigiles adversus incendia instituti (says Cassell's). IacobusAmor 22:08, 4 Maii 2008 (UTC)Reply

True that olim they did not distinguish police and firefighters too much, but neolatin sources such as Traupman and Egger give siphonarius for fireman, (I guess meaning the man in charge of pumping water to extinguish the fire), and reserve vigil for modern policeman per se.--Rafaelgarcia 22:29, 4 Maii 2008 (UTC)Reply
I use Dvoretsky's Latin-Russian dictionary with ca. 50,000 entries, which identifies "incendialis" as "fire" (cf. Tert., "tunica incendialis", "fire toga"), while "incendiarius" is "incendiary", "burning". --Brand спойт 16:59, 5 Maii 2008 (UTC)Reply
