Disputatio:Coniecturae ex coniurationibus de egressibus in Lunam
Lemma
recensereLemma nunc est Theoriae conspirationales de delapsibus Lunaribus. ¶ But a "conspiracy theory" is actually a 'conspiracy-related theory' or a 'theory about a conspiracy', not a 'conspiratorial theory'. The theory itself isn't conspiratorial. The theorists believe themselves to be revealing & undermining a conspiracy, not organizing & implementing one. So the syntax is misleading. ¶ Classically, according to Cassell's, 'theory' = ratio, doctrina, ars, scientia, but aren't "conspiracy theories" more like 'speculations' (coniecturae)? Ainsworth says to translate 'theory' as contemplatio, or cognitio contemplatioque alicujus artis, or artis pars contemplativa vel speculativa. Ainsworth says Cicero used theoria as 'contemplation'. ¶ The supposed adjective conspirationales (which, reflecting the basic sense of conspiratio 'a breathing together', seems as though it might mean 'harmonious, agreeable, done in union') isn't in Ainsworth's or Cassell's. So it may not be a (classical) word. ¶ Likewise the noun delapsus, -us, though the participle delapsus, -a, -um is, meaning something like 'alighted, sunk down to, come down to'. For 'a landing' (i.e., a disembarkation), the classical term seems to be egressus (e navi), and 'to land' = egredi (in terram). So 'a moon landing' might be egressus in lunam. ¶ Ergo fortasse melius Coniecturae ex coniurationbus = 'speculations about conspiracies' + fortasse de egressibus in Lunam 'about landings on the moon'? - Also, we have appulsus, -ús 'a driving toward', especially in a nautical sense: 'a landing'. IacobusAmor (disputatio) 11:26, 21 Decembris 2012 (UTC)
- Et "coniecturae de coniurationibus"? The topic of the theories are the conspiracies themselves, or are they theories based on conspiracies as the "ex" seems to indicate me?--Xaverius 20:14, 18 Decembris 2012 (UTC)
- In Cassell's, the only pertinent example of the use of coniectura goes with ex (but parenthetically allows de too). IacobusAmor (disputatio) 22:17, 18 Decembris 2012 (UTC
- We should follow Cassell's then...--Xaverius 09:35, 21 Decembris 2012 (UTC)

- And Categoria:Programma Apollonare surely is wrong.--Xaverius 20:25, 18 Decembris 2012 (UTC)
- The adjective would be "Apollinaris -e" (with an i, not an o). I'll add a couple of existing categories meanwhile.
- I have changed the proposed category to Categoria:Programma Apollo, which is the title of our relevant page, but I don't feel sure of the ideal name to choose. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 20:53, 18 Decembris 2012 (UTC)
- "Apollo" seems to be the name of the programme, I don't think that it is an Apollinean (?) programme, so I'd stick to Programma Apollo--Xaverius 13:20, 21 Decembris 2012 (UTC)
