Nomen alium?
recensereThinking about the whaling towns of Biscay (Getaria and Ghetary as cognates of cetaria) I quickly looked into names with "cetus" rather than "balaena", and came across various phrases:
- De modo piscando cetos et balaenas (ch. XV in Olai Magni Historia de gentibus septentrionalibus, 1555, although chapters XV-XXVI are all about whaling!)
- Captura cetorum (appears in Commentaries in Job and in a 14th-c. description of Greenland, and in this reference, I havent been able to trace fully [1]
- Captura seu venatio balaenarum in a German dictionary [2]
There are various terms we could use - I was just worried about the lack of a ref to balaenatio.--Xaverius 20:29, 20 Novembris 2019 (UTC)
- I found one, from your beloved medieval period! Thanks for making me look! IacobusAmor (disputatio) 20:47, 20 Novembris 2019 (UTC)
