Bibliotheca Marsiana
Bibliotheca Marsiana (Anglice Archbishop Marsh's Library) est bibliotheca publica Hiberniae antiquissima, Eblanae sita iuxta ecclesiam cathedralem in saepto Sancti Patricii. Aedificata est anno 1701, architecto Gulielmo Robinson, iussu archiepiscopi Narcissi Marsh; anno 1707 a parlamento Hibernico incorporata est. Aedificium saeculo XIX adiuvantibus Beniamino Guinness filioque restauratum est.[1] Hodie libros impressos 25 000 (quorum incunabula 80) et manu scriptos 300 continet.
Collectiones et lectores
recensereMarsh ipse suos libros huic bibliothecae dono dedit, inter quos reperiuntur et libros circiter 10 000 Edwardi Stillingfleet quos Marsh pretio £2 500 emit. Primus bibliothecarius, Elias Bouhéreau, Rupellae nativus, qui e Francia anno 1695 fugit, bibliothecam suam de historia et religionibus Franciae necnon medicina addidit. Anno 1745 Iohannes Stearne episcopus libros suos bibliothecae Marsianae legavit.
Thomas Moore scriptor Hibernicus in hac bibliotheca librum Anacreonteorum perlegit et Anglice vertit; dicitur saepe a bibliothecario Thomasso Craddock (qui pater fuit Thomassi R. Craddock poëtae contubernalis) in bibliotheca noctu inclusus esse ut rapidius laborem finiret.[2]
