:I've heard it like that too, but so far as I can see, the precise words aren't quoted in any Latin source. For oblique references, see Pliny NH 15.74 and several other sources. I think the nearest thing to an actual quotation is in Plutarch's Life of Cato (in Greek of course) which someone maybe translated back into Latin in the form you and I have heard.
