Wasn't the quote "Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam"? Instead of "Hoc...."Chaemera 15:10, 21 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)
:I've heard it like that too, but so far as I can see, the precise words aren't quoted in any Latin source. For oblique references, see Pliny NH 15.74 and several other sources. I think the nearest thing to an actual quotation is in Plutarch's Life of Cato (in Greek of course) which someone maybe translated back into Latin in the form you and I have heard. With luck, someone will now correct me. Andrew Dalby 18:43, 21 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)

Collegi fontes de moris Catonis »ceterum censeo« dicendo. Apparet, ut nemo scriptorum latinorum eis exactos verbos notaverit. Solum Plutarchus eam exclamationem in lingua Graeca Antiqua notavit.
