Nomen additum ''kibo'' in Kichagga 'maculatus' significat, et ad saxa super nives visa spectat. Vox Swahili ''uhuru'' 'libertas' est nomen monti datum ut memoretur libertas Tanzaniae, a [[Britanniarum Regnum|Britanniarum Regno]] anno [[1961]] recepta.
