Henricus James
Henricus James (15 Aprilis 1843—28 Februarii 1916) fuit scriptor Anglo-American, qui plurimum sui cursus vitae in Britannia degit. Late putatur unus e personis maximi momenti realismi litterarii et modernismi litterati saeculi undevicensimi. Filius fuit Henrici James et frater Gulielmi James philosophi et psychologi et Aliciae James diaristae.
James inter Americam et Europam primos viginti suae vitae annos per vices commorabatur; in Anglia tandem consedit, ubi subiectus Britannicus anno 1915 factus est, uno anno ante mortem. Nonnullis mythistoriis quae Americanos monstrant culturam Europaeam et Europaeos offendentes innotuit. Sua ratio scribendi de rebus ut sic personis intra fabulam videntur sinit ut argumenta ad conscientiam et perceptionem pertinentia explorare possit, et eius stilus(en) in operibus ultimis cum pictura impressionistica comparatus est.
James historiam iudicii litterarii magnopere affecit, praecipue ob urgendum scriptores maximam habere libertatem ut eorum sententias mundi praebeant. Quam ob rem postulavit ut textus imprimis sit verus et imaginem contineat vitae quam lectores cognoscere possint. Mythistoriae bonae, opinabatur James, vitam agentem monstrant, exspectationes lectoris exercentes. recensereJames natus est in 2 Washington Place in Urbe Novi Eboraci die 15 Aprilis 1843.[1][2] Parentes fuerunt Maria Walsh et Henricus James. Pater fuit lector et philosophus intellegens, constanter comis, qui satis pecuniam hereditate exceperat ex patre, argentario et investore Albaniae Novi Eboraci. Maria ex familia divite venit quae diutine in Urbe Novi Eboraci habitabat, et soror Catherina cum familia diutine habitabat. Henrico filio fuerunt tres fratres: Gulielmus, uno anno maior, et Wilkinson et Robertson, fratres minores natu. Soror, ei iunior, fuit Alicia.[3]
Familia primum in Albania habitavit, sed ad Urbem Novum Eboracum migravit, et domicilium in Via Quarto Decimo habitare constituit, Henrico iam puerulo. Eius educatio a patre designata est ut multis rebus occurreret, praecipue scientificam et philosophicam; descripta est "praeter modum fortuita et promiscua."[4] James usitatam in classicis Latina et Graeca educationem non habuit, universitatemque non frequentavit. Henricus iuvenis bello civili ob tergum malum meruere non potuit. Anno 1862 Scholam Iurisprudentiam Harvardianam frequentabat, sed tandem intellexit studium iurisprudentiae se non tenere. Studium autem litterarum institit, et se cum auctoribus et iudicibus Gulielmo Dean Howells et Carolo Eliot Norton Bostoniae et Cantabrigiae consociare solebat,[2][6] amicitiasque omnem per vitam coepit cum Olivario Wendell Holmes, futuro Iudice Iudicii Maximi Civitatum Foederatarum, et Iacobo et Anna Fields, suis primis consiliariis professionalibus.
