Das Bild zeigt eine Legende um den normannischen Herzog Robert. Durch einen Pfeil tödlich verwundet wurde er heldenhaft durch seine Frau gerettet, die - wie von den Ärzten verordnet - das vergiftete Blut aus der Wunde saugte.
