Deutsch: Darstellung der vier Ebenen der Proteinstruktur: Die de:Primärstruktur eines de:Proteins ist seine de:Aminosäurefolge, gezeigt ist der Ausschnitt ALFVA; darunter die de:Sekundärstruktur, links ein beta-Schwanz, rechts eine alpha-Glied. Die de:Tertiärstruktur (blau) bezeichnet die dreidimensionale Struktur einer Aminosäurekette. Lagern sich mehrere solcher Ketten zu einem de:Proteinkomplex zusammen, wird dies auch als de:Quartärstruktur bezeichnet. Tertiär- und Quartärstruktur sind hier in der Cartoon-Darstellung gegeben, die den ungefähren Verlauf des Backbone (Proteinrückgrat) anzeigt. Die Proteinoberfläche ist hier nicht dargestellt.
