Veem-se, à esquerda, na parte inferior, figuras importantes do cenário político do Império: Antonio Paulino Limpo de Abreu, o visconde de Abaeté, que era presidente do Senado; o marquês, depois duque de Caxias, Luiz Alves de Lima e Silva; e José Maria da Silva Paranhos, o visconde do Rio Branco, que era também presidente do Gabinete e ministro da Fazenda. Na tribuna, na parte superior: a imperatriz d. Teresa Cristina, a princesa Isabel e o conde d'Eu e, ao fundo, Joaquim Marques Lisboa, o marquês de Tamandaré.
