This template will not work without some javascript. This javascript may slow down the display of every page (not just pages using this template). The German wikipedia is currently discussing a way to improve the accessibility of the script, see de:MediaWiki Diskussion:Monobook.js#Vorlage:Scroll Gallery. --UV 21:24, 5 Octobris 2007 (UTC)

- In order to work correctly, this template needs some javascript code to be inserted into MediaWiki:common.js (or MediaWiki:monobook.js). Whenever a user loads a page (not just a page containing {{Pinacotheca}}, but every page), this javascript code executes in the user's browser. It looks through the entire page and when it finds {{Pinacotheca}}, it hides all images in this series but the first one. --UV 15:36, 6 Octobris 2007 (UTC)

- Correct. Any administrator can add this javascript code to MediaWiki:common.js. I could do it, but I am a bit hesitant whether the benefits outweigh the disadvantage of the (slightly) slower loading and display of every page. The German wikipedia did not add the script until now (see the link above).
- Let me explain the reasons for my being hesitant: On how many pages do you think that this template would be actually used? Taking into account that the purpose of vicipaedia is to build an encyclopedia, mere "slideshows" of a bunch of several pictures should not go here in my opinion, but on Communia. In my view, vicipaedia should only feature the very best pictures that add value to the understanding of the subject of the article, and the pictures should never outweigh the text.
