DescriptioRomanos et Eudoxie.JPG
Le Christ couronnant Romanos et Eudoxie Constantinople, ivoire, vers 945-949. H.: 24,6 cm
Département des Monnaies, Médailles et Antiques, Bibliothèque Nationale de France [1].
Until 1926, the couple was identified as Romanos IV Diogenes (1030 — 1072) and Eudokia Makrembolitissa. It is now thought to depict Romanos II (938 — 963) with his 1st wife Bertha of Italy, who took the name of Eudoxia. They were married in 944-949.
