Insulae Moluccae would probably be a better name. True that Maluca is closer to the original Arab and Indonesian names of Maluk and Maluku. However, in most western languages where the islands have a "Latinized" name, it is something along the lines of "Moluccas".

There's no special reason why we should imitate "western languages" -- but you're right to draw attention to the fact that we don't have a Latin source for this name. There's sure to be one. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 10:22, 21 Februarii 2011 (UTC)Reply
