Disputatio:Carolinum

Latest comment: abhinc 11 annos by Andrew Dalby

According to the records giving the names of the dioceses of cities, Charlotte is rendered Carola or Carolina. I want to know if people think the name should be changed or if redirects should be added. Andy85719 21:23, 17 Iulii 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, the noun on which the diocese name is based must be Carolina. This is a confusing name because it's so close to the name of the state! If we move to it, I would propose the title Carolina (urbs Carolinae Septentrionalis). But maybe someone did have a source for Carlotta? If so, now's the time to say so! Interestingly, Egger doesn't have Charlotte at all. Burke (A Hand-List of Latin Place Names with their Modern Equivalents), however, gives Carolinum. --Iustinus (disputatio) 07:00, 8 Februarii 2013 (UTC)Reply
This is needed for David Morgan, so I'm just going to move it to Carolinum. If anyone has any objections, please raise them here. --Iustinus (disputatio) 15:56, 8 Februarii 2013 (UTC)Reply
Fine of course. My proposal above is unnecessary since you give a source for "Carolinum". Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 16:19, 8 Februarii 2013 (UTC)Reply
Revertere ad "Carolinum".
